On the occasion of Maharashtra Day, DAV Public School, New Panvel organized a compassionate visit to a nearby old-age care house as part of a community outreach Annapurna Initiative. The objective of this visit was to instil values of respect, empathy, compassion and care for the elderly among students. A group of students, accompanied by honourable Principal, Supervisory heads, teachers, visited the old-age care house in the morning. The programme began with a brief introduction, followed by distribution of food items by honourable Principal sir which brought smiles to the faces of the residents.
Students then interacted with the elderly residents, listening to their life experiences and stories. These interactions were deeply touching and helped students understand the emotional needs of senior citizens. Some teachers and students also distributed biscuits, edible oil and essential items as a gesture of kindness. This created a meaningful exchange between generations and made the visit more enriching as students received blessings from elderly.
The visit concluded with a vote of thanks from the old-age home authorities, who appreciated the initiative of school and enthusiasm of the students. It was a heart-warming experience for everyone involved.
