One of our alumni, Shikha Gandhi, was here to guide us about the so called high school helter skelter one has to go through. We could relate with her to a large extent. With all those submissions, assignments and tests, we hardly get time to think about pacifying the helter skelter. Co curricular activities and pressure from elders to score well are like fuel to fire.
Shikha Gandhi, a good orator, could connect with the students really well. She spoke on stress and time management. She generously shared many significant incidents of her life which taught us very trivial but very important lessons. I hope her experience would prove quiet useful for naïve students like us who have just entered the world of chaos. She touched some weak points of teens like us and advised us on how to overcome our weaknesses.
Analysis is the key to realization and realization will make you develop a ladder towards your BHAG, as she called it. BHAG stands for Big Hairy Audacious Goal. She helped us create a mindset to achieve our set of goals, or set our goals rather, with a pragmatic approach. Acronyms used by her were attention catching, like GROW (Goal Reality Options Will).
At the end of the session we had to accept that life is not a piece of cake. One either needs to put one’s nose to the grindstone or be smart enough. She added a page to the book of our personality. After all, like Manjiri ma’am said at the beginning of the session- Beauty attracts attention but personality attracts heart.
Alumni Meet 2011
This was the first Alumni Meet of its kind in DAV Public School, New Panvel. Students who had passed out in the academic year 2006-07, were very keen to have an Alumni Meet. The date finalized for the same was 28th January, 2011.
It was an afternoon filled with enthusiasm as the students were welcomed with Roses as they entered the Conference room. Principal Madam Bhaswati Bhattacharjee delivered a Welcome Speech in which she formally announced that the foundation of the DAV Public School, New Panvel Alumni Club has been laid. She expressed her happiness to see students remembering their school and their teachers so fondly. Forms for registration were distributed and 14 students enrolled themselves.
It was a mesmerizing time when students shared personal experiences with their teachers and honestly confessed that they missed their school life. Many were emotional to see each other after a very long time. The one and a half hour meet marked a historical initiation of the DAV Public school, New Panvel Alumni Club. The students walked around the school and relived their pleasant memories. They also took the privilege of playing football for some time before they left the school premises resolving to meet every year with a larger group.
