“Freedom is not merely the right to live; it is the responsibility to live with dignity, unity and purpose.”

D.A.V. Public School, New Panvel, celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and a deep sense of pride. The celebration brought together students, teachers and parents to commemorate the nation’s freedom and pay tribute to the countless heroes whose courage and sacrifices shaped the destiny of our country. The school campus was beautifully adorned with tricolour flags, banners and floral decorations, creating an atmosphere of patriotism and festivity.

The programme commenced at 8:00 a.m. with an impressive Guard of Honour presented by the NCC cadets, followed by a synchronised March Past. The programme began with Vande Mataram, a  salute to the martyrs who laid their lives for our motherland. The Principal, Shri Sumanth Ghosh, unfurled the National Flag amidst the proud and patriotic gathering. The flag hoisting was followed by the soulful rendition of , the National Anthem, the Flag Song , the State Anthem, and the D.A.V. Anthem by the school choir.

The spirit of responsible citizenship was further reinforced when the School Captain, Annaya Chaturvedi, administered the Drug-Free India Pledge, inspiring students to make healthy and responsible choices and contribute towards building a stronger nation.

Adding meaning to the celebrations, Shreya Kadam of Class VI delivered a powerful speech highlighting the responsibilities and duties of students as future citizens. Her words reminded everyone that “The youth of today are not merely the citizens of tomorrow; they are the nation-builders of today.”

This was followed by a delightful and vibrant presentation by the tiny tots of Shishu Vihar, whose innocent enthusiasm and patriotic spirit added a special charm to the celebration. The Patriotic Song Competition further enlivened the atmosphere, with students from all four houses delivering energetic and inspiring performances that reflected their love for the motherland.

In her address, Dr. Pinku Ratre spoke eloquently about the true meaning of patriotism. Her message resonated deeply with the students and encouraged them to become responsible, compassionate and contributing citizens.

The celebration also witnessed an inspiring NCC Rank Upgradation Ceremony, during which the ranks of six NCC cadets were upgraded in recognition of their commitment, discipline and dedication.

The Principal, Shri Sumanth Ghosh, addressed the gathering and spoke about youth responsibility, national unity and the role of students in shaping India’s future. He urged the students to uphold the values of discipline, avoid distractions of technology, and get ready to work for Viksit Bharat @ 2047. He also appealed the students to work for Drug- Free India. His address reinforced the thought that “A strong nation is built not only by its leaders, but by responsible citizens who perform their duties with sincerity.”

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, teachers, PTA members, parents, NCC cadets and students whose collective efforts made the celebration a memorable one.

The celebration concluded on a note of pride, gratitude and renewed commitment to the nation, leaving every heart filled with the spirit of Jai Hind!
