Cyber Security Awareness

A Cyber Crime Awareness Workshop was conducted on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at D.A.V. Public School, New Panvel, for the students of Classes IX to XII. The session was led by officers from Khandeshwar Police Station, Navi Mumbai — PSI Dattaray Vane Sir and Shweta Patil Madam — who sensitized students about the importance of online safety and responsible use of technology.
Technology: A Double-Edged Sword
The speakers highlighted that while technology and mobile phones have become essential in the modern world, they can also pose serious risks if misused. Students were encouraged to adopt safe online practices and stay alert in the digital environment.
Understanding and Preventing Cyberbullying
The session shed light on various forms of cyberbullying, including trolling, impersonation, and online harassment. Students learned about its emotional impact and were advised to think before posting, be kind online, avoid unknown friend requests, and support victims by reporting abuse.
Financial Fraud and Digital Safety
Officers also discussed the rising cases of online payment frauds and shared practical tips to prevent them:

Avoid clicking on unverified links or using public Wi-Fi.

Use antivirus protection and a separate SIM for banking apps.
Reporting Cyber Crimes
Students were informed about official helplines for reporting cybercrimes:
They were also introduced to the Government of India Cyber Crime Portal, where complaints can be registered, and learned how investigators trace crimes using IP addresses.
